Things you will need to be able to participate in the Fast
Pass +
- · An RFID enabled media (either card or Magic Band)
- · Be within 60 days of your resort reservation (off property stays are expected to be added in the future.
- · A Disney account.
- · Either access to a computer or a phone with internet capabilities. Download My Disney Experience app to your phone or go to the My Disney Experience tab on the Disney World site
That is it! That is
all you need to get started.
So let’s get started with some basics. The system is very easy to navigate, as long
as you take the time to read each line before you press a button. When you choose FastPass+ from the drop down
window of My Disney Experience, it takes you to your dates. From there you choose the date you want to
select your FP+ for and then you get an option to choose the park. Remember, currently, you can only choose one
park. Park hopping is not supported by
this system (maybe an upgrade coming???)
After you get the day and park…then you are presented with a few
choices. Since almost every single
attraction at Disney is in the process of adding a FastPass+ entrance we can
only assume that they will eventually have FP+ at each attraction. Currently you only get a few options. I think Animal Kingdom has four options,
while Magic Kingdom has several. Another
point to remember is you cannot choose the same ride or attraction more than
once in a day.
After you make your selections, you are presented an option
to set the priority. This seems to mean
more of a which order you want to do them as opposed to an actual priority. Then you get three or four options for times.
One will be selected as best choice, and if there is a conflict with a dining
reservation, it will be noted. So,
what do you do if NONE of the options work for you. Choose the one that best suits you. You will get a chance to go back in and
change the times for each individual FP+.
Notice, I said each individual FP+. You have to do each day…one at a time. And you have to change each attraction …one
at a time.
Good news is, you can delete people that don’t want to ride
a particular ride, like I will not ride Expedition Everest…however, it does not
give you an option to choose a fourth attraction for the person who chooses not
to ride that particular ride. (maybe another update?)
The only issues I had for setting up our trip in December …
Everyone needs to be on the Friends/Family list of everyone! Meaning, my son and daughter in law are both
on my Family list, and I can make the choices for them…but my son is not a
friend or family member to my daughter in law…so we are currently unable to
make FP+ selections for them on the night they are doing a different park than
the rest of us!
Another issue is that knowing that more items will be
released later, makes it hard to decide what to delete in order to get the one
item we might want. Like, Fantasmic was
not an option for us when I did them yesterday morning, but was later in the
evening. Unfortunately, our dining
reservation conflicts with the timing, and I have to delete either Toy Story, Tower of Terror or Rock N
Rollercoaster to get it. While I have no
problem deleting either of the roller coasters, the rest of my party might…ok
they WILL!
Another problem is…when you make a change, you only get the
option to change the attraction or the time…not both! So if you have Its Tough to be a Bug at 9 am, and you really want to get the
Safari at noon…it requires two separate transactions.
Over all I was really impressed with the way it worked. I cannot wait to get to use some of these FP+.
Now, for a more in depth review (including a video of how to
do them) of Fast Pass +, here is a website.
